2009 Show Report

Chairman Ian McGowan welcomes visitors to the 2009 show
Despite the very mixed weather during the spring and summer another successful Show was held on Saturday 29th August 2009. Our entries remain strong with over 700 entries on the day. A super effort by everyone who exhibited.
The Committee would like to thank all the exhibitors from near and far who supported the Show. Whether it was two entries or twenty your efforts are gratefully appreciated.

The Gardens of Killearn
Twice every year - once in Spring and again in Summer we appoint a Judge and drive around Killearn looking at all the gardens judging them as seen from the road.
This was the third year for the new class for the hidden gardens and the first year a trophy, the Leonora Murray Trophy, was presented for this class. Again there were many entries, giving the judge a difficult task with so many lovely hidden treasures to look at.
The following were the results;
- Spring
- 1st - Dunnaway, Kerrix, Station Road.
2nd - Davies, 23 Main Street.
3rd - Cram, 17 Rowan Crescent.
- Summer
- 1st (Mrs Ewen Cameron Cup) - Harvey, 25 Buchanan Road.
2nd - Falconer, 46 New Endrick Road.
3rd - Brown / McCulloch, Dumgoyne.
- Hidden
- 1st (Leonora Murray Trophy) - Davison, 5 Lampson Road.
2nd - Duncan, 40 Graham Road.
3rd - Veitch, 6 Allan Road.
Mega Marrow
We like to introduce new competitions. In 2008 the challenge was to grow the heaviest marrow and this contest was repeated in 2009. The winners were as follows;
- Mega Marrows
- First - W. MacGowan
Second - Tess the Dug
Third - P. Monaghan
